First Gingerbread House

I am not my Aunt Linda, who--by the way---is amazing with her detailed ginger bread mansions!!! I bought this kit at Walmart and let's just say--it worked long enough to get the pictures!! By the end of the last picture, it really fell apart...I didn't want to face reality and take the last destroyed picture. The kids loved eating it and we can at least say we tried!!! We did this while Matthew took a nap b/c we really wanted to at least get it standing!!!
I am adding a picture of my aunts gingerbread house from last year, just so you can appreciate her detail!!!

Christmas with Mimer and Papa

We had an early Christmas with Mimer and Papa, which the kids loved!!! That meant that they were allowed to open Christmas presents early!!! Mimer and Papa

came up and brought a lot of presents!!! My favorite phrase was from Mark when he opened his clothes...he said I love it!!! and he meant it! His favorite was the puzzles and the thomas laptop even though he loves his clothes and likes to wear them a lot!!

Melissa's First Piano Recital

Melissa has just begun piano lessons this fall and had a piano recital at an assisted living community. She and about 40 other students played Christmas songs for their families and the community that lived there. Melissa did soooo well and she played jingle bells. When she came to her seat after playing she said she was a bit shaky b/c she didn't want people staring at her. Despirte her nerves she played her song very well!! We were so proud of her.

Matthew --our prayer warrior

Matthew started praying by saying God Jesus Amen...about a month ago when we would pray for Bible in home schooling. Then the kids would lead the prayer and he would repeat! On the day after Christmas, we were staying in the same room with him and his crib and we were woken up with his prayer--God Jesus Amen! It was sooooo cute! Tonight, when we laid him down for bed, we asked him if he wanted to pray and he folded his hands and started on his own...God, Thank you Jesus, Amen!!

Benefits of Raw Honey--Do not do this for babies or for kids that you have already tested honey with and they have reacted~

I am going to be studying the effects of honey on allergies , but so far I have done this for you! Here are some great uses for Honey (inspired by my lovely school friend --Kay Watts)

For skin rashes, burns and abrasions. Apply a small amount of Really Raw Honey lightly over the affected area; may cover with a dressing or a dusting of cornstarch to reduce any stickiness.

The ultimate moisturizer.Smooth a small amount of Really Raw Honey lightly over the skin; easily remove later with splashes of cold water or comfortable warm water. Leaves skin baby soft.
As a bath and antibacterial soap.Wash with Really Raw Honey straight from the jar and enjoy sparkling clean skin. Facial blemishes and acne caused by cosmetics or allergies will clear up quickly using a nightly treatment of RRH. A small amount needed.

For hair and scalp treatment.Apply Really Raw Honey (with or without olive oil) to dry or damp hair about one half hour before washing--you'll be amazed at your "crowning glory".

For dental care and mouth sores.Cleans teeth, mouth and dentures and stops bleeding gums. Canker sores, blisters and mouth ulcers respond to application of Really Raw Honey.

An astounding natural preservative.Unprocessed honey found in ancient tombs was determined to be edible and was even used to preserve bodies. Keeps foods fresh and moist longer and retards spoilage.
Honey is antiseptic, antibiotic, antifungal, and antibacterial -- it never spoils!

Katie's latest profound question!!

When discussing the history of Christmas and the reason why we celebrate as Christians, Katie asked a very thought provoking and much asked question.."Why do we get gifts instead of Jesus?" So, this spurred a brainstorm of what we could give Jesus this year or every year...we came up with praise, truth(honesty), obedience, forgiveness toward others( a gift to Jesus and to others and to ourselves), happy attitude!! What can you come up with? Feel free to leave a comment on what you will be giving this year. We would love to add to our list of ideas!

Picture is our nativity--

one of the kids took the picture!!

CAUGHT!!!

The kids had the camera upstairs and I didn't know what exactly they were doing!! But, they were caught b/c they were taking pictures of Mark doing what he should not be doing. I got the camera and saw the evidence!!! HA! Take a look!

More Party!!!

Melissa's 6th Birthday Party!!

We had a princess party for Melissa with a couple friends from Church and co-oop! She turned SIX!! I am feeling a bit surprised that my kids are geting closer to the double digit ages! It's one thing when they are

2 or 3 or 4, but 5 seems sooooo older and 6 even older!! We decorated party hats, colored princess ball stencils, ate cake and opened presents! I have more pictures that I will download to the next blog entry b/c they won't all fit on one!!!

For your TV Viewing pleasure...

Matthew thought that Katie was more comfortable than the floor for t.v. watching!!!

Bird Watching!

With our home schooling curriculum, we are learning about state birds and one of the things we did was make bird watching binoculars! The kids picked the paper to cover their toilet paper rolls and we taped the two together to make their own personal bird watching binoculars! Then, we went outside!! They loved it and it was fun just watching them from my bird watching camera!!

Pin the tail on the Horse in the VAN!!

Katie is one of the most creative people! She comes up with games all the time! One of them was her pin the tail on the horse game she and Melissa played in the van. She had Melissa blind fold her and then she tried pinning the tail(that she had torn out of the paper--first picture) on the horse she had drawn!! So creative!

Funniest Song Ever! If you know the Underwood song Jesus, Take the Wheel!
