Rough Rider Game

John's company invited all the company to go to a Rough Rider Baseball game Friday, July 27th. It is tradition for the kids to get snow cones, but this time, they wanted cotton candy. Too bad we have no pictures of that! Melissa and Katie split one and Mark, Matthew and John and I split a second one. Katie and Melissa were covered on their faces with the sugar!! They love the sweet part, and hardly watch the game. Duece(the mascot) is the most entertaining next to the treat for them:). Here are some pics taken at the game.

Loving those who aren't always super friendly...

Melissa has had a little girl in one class of hers that is not really nice to her...aka--when Melissa says hi, the girl apparently gives her a "funny" look and walks away. So, we have talked to her about saying hi and being friendly anyway. We told her that the girl may be shy or may not know English??? We have shared all the reasons we can think of. Anyways, she tried saying hi again last night, and Katie was there. The girl didn't respond except with the funny look, according to Katie. So, we were once again revisting the subject this morning and Katie says, "I know what you could do! You could give her a present! Or a cookie or a sucker!" Melissa says, "Oh, I could give her my cookie that I get in class!" I suggested that they draw her a picture--since that is what they enjoy most! So here they are drawing away--well, really, posing for the picture while I take it. I am saddened by Melissa's feelings being hurt, but it does give us great talks about loving those who hurt you and not laughing at people when bad things happen to them...we covered that yesterday with Proverbs 25 and it was talked about again, when we were watching Hannah yesterday afternoon and they laughed at a mean girl getting made fun of. Good times!! At least they are learning, right?! Hopefully, this sinks in and they learn to love people as the Lord loves people.

Mark saw that I took their picture and wanted his taken too. He's drinking his OJ:). Matthew wanted his taken too, so I said "Smile," and he did!!

Quote about Healthy Eating

As I have been reading a book called What the Bible Says About Healthy Living, by Rex Russell, M.D., I have come across a quote that I love! "Is it possible calorie-laden sugar keeps us mindful of the need for discipline and moderation in our eating, while artificial sweeteners encourage us to cast off restraint? It's hard to say, but it's certainly food for thought."--Kara Davis in Today's Christian Woman Magazine. Think about it! It's such a great book!! I wish I could buy one for everyone and make them read it! It would benefit the health of everyone who read it, even if you change one little thing in your eating habits.

Swimmers--take your mark!

The kids just finished their swimming lessons that they took from Ms. Rhonda and Ms. Danielle. For the last two weeks, the kids have splished and splashed their way to pool freedom! Matthew ended up just swimming with Mom and Dad, but the rest graduated with honors---Where's my proud bumper sticker????

Matthew's Party at the Mimer's and Papa's house!

June 23,2007---We celebrated Matthew's second birthday down in Cypress. He enjoys the characters from the movie Cars, so we did a Cars theme! He got so much cake on him, we had to take his shirt off for his present time! One of the things he got was a drum from Mimer and Papa, and he loves drumming up a tune with them!! Matthew loves music and we think he will be in Praise and Worship or leading a band or something of the kind!

Karen's Youth Group Reunited!!

We planned a reunion for our youth group, Teen Vision, in Houston, Texas. First we met at a park in Tomball with all the folks, and those with kids brought them to enjoy other generations! Then, later that day, we met at County Line for some good ole' BBQ where we told stories and laughed til we cried!!

Katie's Note to Self

This is a picture of Katie's note to self that she drew as a reminder to herself not to swim so much in a day at anyone's house. She got her first blisters from the bottom of a pool today b/c she had swim lessons and swam at a friend's house in one day. She was in the pool for a few hours total and said she wished she got out sooner. So, she came home, pulled a piece of paper from the computer printer and said she was going to draw a picture that she was going to bring with her to all her friends houses to remind her of today. Notice her feet in the picture!
