Visit from DC!

My brother and his wife live in the DC area and came to Texas for a wedding. We met them at a nearby city lake/park and hung out for an hour or so. It was great to see them and the kids had a blast with the dogs that were being walked and with their Mimer, Papa, Uncle Stephen, and Aunt Cristina!
Ok, I have downloaded all my pics, so you might not see a new post for a day or so.

Chuck-E-Cheese

Katie cannot eat dairy--aka also pizza, but she decided to have her party at Chuck-E-Cheese. She loves the games! So, we invited about 6 or 7 of Katie's girl friends and some of their siblings, plus all the cousins. Most everyone was able to make it. We had Hannah Montana cupcakes and just played games last Saturday morning. My parents came in and we had all the parents there to oversee their kids playing the games. Katie had a blast and so did all the kids even without pizza!!!

The many faces of Mark Bull

Snow Day in Texas

Well, it happens in Texas, but not usually twice in a week where we live! Take a look at our pics of our "snow day" in Texas. The boys missed it b/c they were with their Mimi and Papaw for a few days. The picture of the house is actually the first day of snow. The second day(a few days later) was a lot more snow!!

Righteousness Vs. Evil

Did you know that those who love the Lord and keep His commands actually affect thousands of generations?
I often think of those who sin and how the effects of that sin are passed down, but look at this scripture! Very motivating to follow Christ...
Exodus 20:5-6
5"You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,
6but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. "
We think of God as a judge sometime, but we need to realize that God is much more loving than He is judgmental.
Will you choose life for your children and their children and so forth?

A Yummy Salad Recipe to try!!

Julie’s Crunchy Romaine Salad

1 head Romaine lettuce, washed, patted or spun dry, and torn/chopped
1 bunch fresh broccoli, coarsely chopped
4 green onions, chopped (green and white parts)
1 cup chopped pecans
1 pkg beef flavor Ramen noodles (raw), broken up
4 T butter

Sauté nuts, ramen noodles, and flavor packet in melted butter in medium saucepan until toasty and well coated. Set aside to cool. Combine and toss all in a big bowl until well mixed. Toss with dressing just before serving. Enjoy!

Dressing

½ cup plus a bit more sugar
½ cup vegetable oil
¼ cup plus a few extra shakes red wine vinegar
1½ tsp plus a few extra shakes soy sauce
salt and pepper to taste

Mix ingredients well (I use an old jam jar and shake well, or you could whisk in a bowl). Add a bit more of all except oil until it tastes perfect.

Another book Review!

I love this book and I just wanted to pass this on to anyone that likes to celebrate! It’s called Every Day a Holiday by Silvana Clark. Here’s an example: January 24th is Room of One’s Own Day—my kids share rooms, but tonight they can sleep in any room upstairs that they want to. January 23rd was Game Show Day, the day before was National Pie Day(we made a pie and ate it!!) It gives you great ideas on what to do. My kids favorite is in September: Backwards Day---They talk about it all year!! This year they want to eat dinner in the morning, lunch normal, and breakfast at night. They will turn their clothes inside out too!! It’s fun!!! The whole month of January is national oatmeal month and hot tea month. That's just a sampling of the book's ideas!

Recreating Blog

I got fancier with my blog and ended up deleting things in the process:(. So, I must redo some things!!! I think I have to figure out how to change back grounds without deleting things called Widgets--if anyone is computer savy , and know what to do, please let me know! I might just have to stay with the green grass.
